Future Chairs #4 and #5

The First Phase of the next expansion at Lookout Pass Ski Area will involve two new lifts facing what is now the "Montana Side" of Runt Mountain. This Phase "has undergone the prescreening process required by the National Environmental Protection Act. The U.S. Forest Service has accepted the concept for Phase One, including two double chairs off a mountain now christened "Eagle Peak" that straddles the Idaho/Montana border. The trail plan seeks to take advantage of as many north-facing slopes as possible. Skiing and riding will take place on about 700 acres. About 1,400 vertical feet will drop through a variety of intermediate and advanced terrain. Beautiful ridge lines sweeping into the new base area offer outstanding views."

The above quote and the following map are taken from the future expansion page at the official resort website in order to further illustrate the proposed expansion. Current view of I-90 traffic

click to see more of Lookout Pass Thank you for your interest in this Silver Valley attraction. Please note that my webwork is in no way associated with the current Forest Service leasee of the ski area on Lookout Pass, Lookout Associates, LLC, but is based on public information, my experience managing the rental and retail shop on this Forest Service property during the 2000/01 season, and my involvement with the Lookout Pass Ski Area in prior seasons. The purpose of this wallace-id.com websuite is to provide current and historical information about the area, to offer an independent viewpoint on the operation of this community asset, to share photographs of my favorite ski area (including the one on the right taken in 1994), and to present original topographical illustrations and animations of the new terrain described in approved expansion plans. Other than small commissions from occasional Amazon sales, no financial gain is realized from this websuite. It exists as part of a larger mission to promote all recreational opportunities near Wallace, Idaho, in order to improve the area's general economy.
