The winter of 2000/01 was excessively temperate for all ten ski areas in eastern Washington, northern Idaho and western Montana. We only had about 50% of our normal snowfall, as shown by our daily snow reports and the Natural Resources Conservation Service graph of Lookout's snowpack. This meant that we had the "acknowledged" best conditions in the three state region. When we have 200 inches in March, but everyone else has 150, the difference is not as dramatic, and the other (larger) areas sometimes don't acknowledge our superior champagne powder. | ||||||||
